The Best of DIY tells us how she made a faux animal skin rug out of a stuffed panther. I just saw a huge bin of pretty decent plush bears at the dollar store that would be great for this project. And of course, there’s always a glut of stuffed animals at the thrift store, including some huge ones for less than $5. [buy this …

Kim at the You Can Make This blog posted a fun gift idea for a tween: a mirrored hairclip holder. One of the things I love about Kim’s blog is that she includes the actual cost of her craft projects, which is helpful when deciding what projects to dive into! I discovered my intense love of garlands (vertical and otherwise) during the Christmas season’s decorating phase, in which I made all my own cheap decorations with paper stuff. I am ready to put up some more cheery decorations to replace the Dollar Store Crafts parody garland my husband put up yesterday: empty milk cartons hung around the room on strips of a recycled tie-dyed t-shirt. …

Laupre designed these amazing legwarmers using fleece and some big buttons. I love them! They are a great stylish way to keep your ankles warm! For the dollar store version, you could use fleece scarves or baby blankets, or check the tea towel or placemat section for some suitable material to use. The craft section at my dollar store usually has cool buttons, too.

Desiree Haigh Photography posted this DIY Hermes-looking leather tassel key ring that cost her less than $10 to make. The inspiration key ring had a hefty pricetag of $195!
You probably won’t find a hunk of leather to work with at the dollar store, but you can do like Desiree did and find an old leather garment at Goodwill to cut up for this and many …

Sarah from My Spare Time posted this amazingly simple apron tutorial made from a cute tea towel. Since the dollar store frequently has cute tea towels for sale (especially seasonal ones), I thought you would appreciate it! Apparently this apron takes about fifteen minutes to make. You can’t beat that, huh? You only need two supplies to make it as well, which makes it a …
