Make an Apron from a Tea Towel
by heather

Sarah from My Spare Time posted this amazingly simple apron tutorial made from a cute tea towel. Since the dollar store frequently has cute tea towels for sale (especially seasonal ones), I thought you would appreciate it! Apparently this apron takes about fifteen minutes to make. You can't beat that, huh? You only need two supplies to make it as well, which makes it a really great dollar store craft! Make 'em for all your friends!
Project Estimate:
- Tea Towel, $1
- 3 yards of ribbon, $1
Total cost: $2

Ok, is the comment thing new…..I am JUST NOW FINDING IT!!!
My daughter works at a pizza place and has to wear aprons…and the black ugly ones aren’t cutting it anymore. We are going to attempt this project!!!
Yeah, I think it can be a little bit of a challenge to find the comments! :) Let me know how your apron turns out!
Could you give some directions as to how you made the pocket at the top of the apron? Not being a seamstress, I am a bit unsure as to how it was done. Also, how did you secure the ribbon? Did you sew it on use some type of seamtape? Looks like a good idea but a few more instructions would be helpful. Thanks.
@Beth Williams: If you click on the “My Spare Time” link in the blog entry, you’ll go to the actual project page instructions, which have a lot more detail than I include here. If a tutorial is located at someone else’s page, I make a point of not including ALL the info on their page, because I want to encourage people to visit the original.
Hope that helps!

[...] Dishtowels make great aprons, but I don't think I've ever seen a dishtowel apron as cute as this one before! Aly at polkanuts designed this sweet apron that uses two dishtowels, has a pocket, and helps you use up a few fabric scraps while you sew it. It's also slightly fitted to give it a more attractive silhouette than some apron patterns. We've featured quite a few apron patterns, but this one was so nice I had to share. [please visit polkanuts for the tutorial] [...]
