If you’ve been following Dollar Store Crafts for a few months, you’ll know that I am a sucker for projects that involve doilies! Even I didn’t know that about myself until I started gravitating toward projects that use doilies!
Emily M. of The Black Apple (I love her art!) has a fashion blog called Some Girls Wander in which she posted a simple and pretty idea for a scarf made from vintage doilies.
Sew doilies together to make a pretty and lacy scarf. The dollar store has crocheted doilies that come one or two to a package, or you can use vintage doilies or crocheted-type lace that you find at thrift or antique stores (or maybe your mom or grandma can spare a few). Or if you’re the doily crocheting-type, here’s a great use for some of your work.
Project Materials:
- Doilies, 10 or so, $1 each
- Sewing machine or needle/thread, on hand
Total: $10 or so, depending on what you have on hand

This is so beautiful. I think I’ve scavenger local thrift shops for my doilies, as I think they’d look better if they were worn.

My uncle just sent me a whole bunch of doilies from my grandmother’s house… I was happy to have something of hers, but kept wondering what in the world I was going to do with a bunch of handmade doilies!! This post couldn’t have come at a better time!! Thank YOU, and thanks oneprettything.com for featuring this awesome post!

this is a great idea! what dollar store do you go to and do they have doilies year round or just seasonal?

I go to Dollar Tree, and they usually have doilies in the kitchen section. It might be cheaper to go with the thrift store for doilies, though!
