Make a Pretty Paper Heart Garland

I discovered my intense love of garlands (vertical and otherwise) during the Christmas season's decorating phase, in which I made all my own cheap decorations with paper stuff. I am ready to put up some more cheery decorations to replace the Dollar Store Crafts parody garland my husband put up yesterday: empty milk cartons hung around the room on strips of a recycled tie-dyed t-shirt. Hm, I'm pretty sure the Onion will be calling him to be the craft editor any day now.

Martawrites posted this cool project that has huge impact for little or no money: a valentine garland. These pretty scrapbook paper hearts make such a pretty garland! Thanks to Robyn at Recycled Crafts on Craft Gossip for posting this!

You can also use whatever you have on hand to hang it: yarn, thread, etc. This would be a great way to use up recyclable paper, too, like cereal boxes, etc.

Project Estimate:

  • Scrapbook (or other pretty) paper, on hand or $1
  • Fishing line, $1
  • Glue, on hand

Total cost: FREE and beyond

That is a great idea. I am about to make a mobile for V.day and I think I will make some garland as well now. Thanks.
Oh, and I have this really cool wrapping paper I am using to make it with. It was on clearance for about fifty cents. Since it’s so thin, I am going to cut two hearts, glue wrong sides together, and have a double sided garland.
