Make a Pretty Jewelry Frame

I am still on the lookout for a good way to store my jewelry, and I absolutely love this jewelry frame project by Claire from Poopscape. I know I've posted a few ideas on this subject, but I admit I haven't gotten my stuff together enough to actually try one of them yet. This project is so cool, I am hurrying to finish this post so I can get to some crafting! I love the velvet backing - so lush and pretty! I love the concept of using your jewelry as decor, too. You can't wear all your jewelry at once, but you can enjoy it by putting it on display.

I don't think you'll find this cool vintage standing frame style at your dollar store, but you will find plenty of suitable frames to use for this project. You can use a placemat for the fabric background (there are lots of cool choices there). Claire used acrylic paint to repaint her frame, which is the more frugal way to go, although I have a special place in my heart for spray paint.

You can find cup hooks in a picture-hanging kit at the dollar store (one of the best investments I've made at the DS!).

Project Estimate:

  • Frame, $1
  • Paint (optional), $.50 to $2
  • Foam core or heavy cardboard, on hand or $1
  • Fabric or placemat, on hand or $1
  • Hot glue gun,
  • Map pins or hooks, $1

Total cost: $2 and up
