Make a Purse from a Microfiber Mitt

Craftster user ailurophile made a funky little purse (she calls it the “Shag Bag”) out of two microfiber car-washing mitts from the dollar store. The shaggy texture of the fabric and the bright color makes it a fun accent to your wardrobe. Craftster user penguinite made another version of the Shag Bag using a single mitt and plastic tubing and chain for the bag’s handle, which is a fun addition.

I know this kind of project isn’t everyone’s taste, but it definitely gets you thinking outside the box!

Project Estimate:

  • Microfiber car washing mitt, $1-2
  • Sewing stuff, on hand

Total cost: $1 and up

    Hi

Love the bag – really made me smile. If you’re English, shag bag isn’t a good name for it, “shag” has a whole other meaning!

Great look blog though. Soon as I’ve got a minute I’ll buzz through a bit more.

    Thanks
    Bob

Tracy – love the stocking. Purse is cute but not one you’d want to put under the table, imagine how dirty it would get :)

I just finished my own shag bag! Thanks for the great idea. The mitt material was not fun to sew with, though. The little “worms” kept jumping in front of my presser foot.
