Make a Lei-Embellished Pillow

Chris from 24FootStreet posted this cute pillow idea that uses microfiber cleaning cloths, a deconstructed flower lei, and pom-poms from the dollar store! I would never have guessed the fuzzy pillow was made from cleaning cloths! It’s very funky and girly. It would be a great accent for a tween’s room (or anywhere you want a bright punch of color). She also made a restful blue pillow, too. Check out her blog to get a peek at that one!

Project Estimate:

  • Microfiber cleaning cloths, $2
  • Lei, $1
  • Pom-poms, $1
  • Pillow form or old pillow, on hand

Total: $4

am i the only one who can’t stand microfiber? i’ve looked at it so many times at the dollar store, but everytime i pick it up, i put it right back down again, the texture gives me chills and creeps me out!

    maybe i’m just weird. ;)

the lei idea is super cute though, and would work with plenty of non-microfiber fabrics found at the dollar store, like the fleece pet blankets, or the kid’s washcloths and towels. ooh, or the pretty scarves they sell…

@craftydame I tend to get dry hands, and microfiber catches on my skin!

This one isn’t like other micro fiber cloths but I do get what you mean. My original thought for it was to make a creature like the hunger thing in the weight watchers commercials but then I decided on a pillow. Mostly because Im not terribly good at sewing and four straight sides was more my speed. I could have gotten away with a creature though my sister in law sewed it for me. She doesn’t trust me with her sewing machine.
