Chica at Chica and Jo posted this great idea for making bright and cheerful coasters out of curling ribbon. These would be right at home in mod or retro decor, or would make fun gifts. [project instructions]

You'll have to pick up the polyurethane varnish at the craft store if you don't have it on hand. You can pick up readymade cork-backed coasters or small cork sheets at the dollar store.

Project Estimate:

  • Curling ribbon, $1
  • Polyurethane varnish, $2.39
  • Coaster-sized cork sheets, $1 for 4
  • Tape, on hand
  • Hot glue gun, on hand

Total cost: $4.39 for multiple coasters

They are lovely, but look like they’d take so much time!

These would make beautiful christmas ornaments! Just ned to find a way to attach the hook into the ribbon now!
