Craftster user jensven1017 created a clever organizing shelf for her DVDs using stuff she got at the dollar store. You can create a similar shelf using any color or decor you want, so go ahead and make one to match your favorite look! [click here for project information]

This idea would work well for containing books, or for adding a bit of book storage to a room that doesn’t have dedicated bookshelves, like a child’s or teen’s bedroom. You could also add a shelf like this to nearly any surface, like a coffee table or bureau top. I love it when people come up with clever furniture-building ideas using dollar store stuff!

Project Estimate:

  • 2 placemats, $2
  • 2 wooden photo frames, $2
  • Plastic bin with lid (lid only used for this project), $1
  • 1 package 12×12 scrapbook paper, $1

Total: $6

Nice idea! I was just telling my husband how I need more book shelves!
