Make a Diaper Clutch/Changing Station for $1

This is the best, simplest placemat project I’ve come across in awhile! Use a pretty placemat to make a diaper clutch that holds diapers and wipes, and folds out to become a diaper changing mat when you’re out and about! You must visit reader Jen’s blog to see all the photos of this ingenious item! All she had to do was sew on a piece of elastic and a button (attainable for ANYONE — needle and thread is more than sufficient for this one!). This is a great frugal idea for a baby shower gift, just tuck a couple of diapers and a small package of baby wipes inside for the perfect gift under $5. Make several at once and save them for all of this year’s baby showers. [click here for all the photos and information]

Project Estimate:

  • Placemat, $1
  • Button, on hand
  • Piece of elastic, on hand or $1
  • Optional: package of wipes and diapers

Total: $1 and up

I love this! The place mats at the dollar store are very cool.
