Jessica at Happy Together has a tutorial for making several different shapes of placemat into cute clutch-style purses. She covers oval, round, and rectangular placemats and how to cut them to make them work. She uses a method to make the clutches we haven't covered here before, so go check the tutorial out and get some placemat inspiration! [click here for tutorial]

Project Materials:

  • Placemat, $1
  • Plastic canvas from craft store, $1
  • Piece of felt or fabric, on hand
  • Velcro, snaps, a vintage pin (to keep clutch closed), on hand
