Disney from Ruffles and Stuff is one of our favorite crafty bloggers. She always has so many beautiful ideas that are innovative, simple, and above all, pretty! She recently released a free ebook called Celebrating Mom that has nine projects, and 51 pages of beautiful photos, projects, and thoughts about moms! All of Disney’s projects are suitable for budget crafting, and many of them use materials you can find at the dollar store (and you can find the rest of the materials at the thrift store). If you like ruffly, romantic, and flowery, you definitely want to check out the book! [click here to find out more about the free ebook]

The project in this picture is the Lacy Doily, and you can make it with scrap muslin, batting, and extra lace, or if you have to pick up supplies, you can get out of the store for less than $5. Or, try using the stuff in your stash for a different look. This would be pretty with colored fabric and ribbon, or recycled clothing (you could make a ruffle out of recycled t-shirt material to use for the lace part).

Project Estimate:

  • Muslin, $1
  • Batting, $1
  • Lace, $1
  • Sewing stuff, on hand

Total: $3
