Make a PB Kids Inspired Art Display

If you have little ones in the house, you know how those precious pieces of artwork can multiply daily.  It feels so mean to just throw some of them away, but your fridge is only so big, right?  Here's a simple, and CHEAP, way to display a few more of those masterpieces.

Over at my blog, Mad in Crafts, I have been showing how I have been sprucing up my son's new playroom (which used to be our dining room).  I used the PB Kids Star Art Cable as the inspiration for some wall art to make the space more kid-friendly.  Using a handful of materials from your own home, or the dollar store, you can knock-off PB Kids too!  [Go here for the tutorial]

Project Estimate:

  • Craft foam, on hand or $1
  • Nails and picture wire, on hand or $1 for picture hanging kit
  • Hammer, on hand
  • Clothespins, on hand or $1

Total: Free to $3

I’ve had something similar to that in my home for years. Just a clothesline and clothespins, but I put along the ceiling as a border around a room and on the wall going up the steps (we have a LOT of little folk art!) I always get compliments on how clever and cute it is. I also have mini blind I cut apart and covered with pretty paper and strung together that I put some of the best artwork on.

I’ve seen this in classrooms, but not with the great colorful clips. Can you find colorful clips like this at the dollar store?

Fun and creative way to display all those recent works of art! I love the crafts I find here – they are simple enough I can actually see myself doing them. I always have great plans to follow through on long and involved projects, but they inevitably end up in my bin of unfinished crafts. *sigh* So thanks for reminding me I love to craft and I really love instant gratification crafts!

Jen – I found the clothespins by the mesh bags and hangers at my local DT. They had these smaller sized ones, and larger sizes too.

Great idea for a kid’s room too, just run it across the wall, or in the classroom, that would be cool too!
