Need a little protection for your netbook, iPad, or Kindle? How about a no-sew fold-up case made from a single placemat and some strategically-placed iron-on Velcro? I made this project for the Holiday Craft-a-Long currently going on in blogland. My tutorial can be found at According to Kelly, along with other no-sew craft projects perfect for holiday gifting (why yes, it IS time to start working on holiday gifts!). Sewing projects are being hosted at Skip To My Lou, and baking projects are at A Southern Fairytale. [click here for full instructions for the netbook case]

My netbook case is a great gift for the technophile on your list (read: dad, husband, brothers, who are all hard to craft for!). Use Velcro made especially for no-sew applications that can be fixed with heat. It's cheaper if you buy it in bulk (and then you can make several cases).

Project Estimate:

Total: $4

p.s. Have you checked out my project at Kickstarter.com? I am raising money to print my craft magazine, CROQ. A $5 pledge is just like pre-ordering the zine! Click here to find out more!

I brought my netbook about 4 months ago & use to carry it everywhere being that it was so small it fit right in my purse. That is, until I realized the nice red finish kept getting nicked. I plan on letting my little ones put together one for my netbook, that way they can feel like they are contributing to my business further.

I think this is a great way to store a laptop, inexpensive and clever and you get the chance to create something unique for you! :) Thank you for the useful article.
