One of my New Year's Resolutions this year was to organize my craft supplies.  Well, here we are nearing the halfway point of the year and my craft room still looks more like aftermath than workspace.  (Sigh.)  There are a few things I have in excessive amounts, including lots of bits of ribbon, yarn, and other string-y things.  I've been winding them around empty cardboard tubes as a temporary solution, but this idea from Carolyn at Carolyn's Homework my be just what I need for the long run.  She used slices of branches clipped from her yard to make very attractive spools that are just perfect for the job!  [how to make tree branch spools]

Project estimate:

  • Tree branches, on hand
  • Dowel, on hand or $1 and up
  • Saw, on hand
  • Glue, on hand

Total:  $1 and up

At first glance I thought they were solid wood lathed in the middle, the end result is deceiving. Looks great!
