Make designer-inspired “straw” bangles

These spring bangles were inspired by a set that appeared in More magazine by R. J. Graziano and offer summery straw and raffia style with only a few supplies. Graziano’s bangles are $25. The dollar store DIY will run you about 50 cents a bangle, cheap enough to stack a dozen up your arm if you are so inclined or to make as gifts.

Make Colorful Painted Silverware

My silverware drawer is hopelessly mismatched.  When Adam and I got married, we combined our collections, which were both eclectic to begin with.  (How I ended up acquiring so many random forks and spoons over the years is a mystery; there are at least a half dozen different flatware patterns currently lurking in my kitchen.)  I’d love a full matched set, but my budget dictates …

Make Colored Staples

After the craft supply store and the dollar, the next most dangerous store to set me loose in is an office supply store.  There’s just something about binder clips and color-coding labels that I just can’t resist.  If you like the novelty of colorful office whatnots, you will certainly enjoy these colored staples by Leah of Zombies Wearing Helmets.  She went looking for colored staples …

Canvas photo prints are incredibly popular right now, and if you’re thrifty you can even find some pretty good just-pay-shipping deals for them around the internet. Make a Vintage Bean Bouquet

When it comes to using dried beans as craft supplies, I usually put them in the same class as elbow macaroni.  They’re something that you give to a kindergartner along with a bottle of white glue to make a collage, and I’ve never really given them much serious thought.  I love it when blogland proves me wrong and breaks down my preconceived notions!    Using directions …

Make a Fridge Pocket for Small Storage Items

Becky from Clean Mama Blog and Clean Mama Printables guest blogs at The Idea Room with a tutorial showing how to make fabric pockets to hang on the fridge. The pocket attaches to the fridge (or other metal surface) with the help of a magnet on the back, and you can use it to hold pens, scissors, notepads, keys, or any of the other small items that seem to collect in the kitchen.
