My husband rarely lets me walk past the paint section of the store. See, even if I have no projects in mind and no reason to be paint shopping, I am totally hooked on paint chips. Some of the colors just speak to me, and I have to grab that little swatch and bring it home. …Hence the giant stack of paint chips I have accumulated in my desk drawer! At Kirtsy I found a tutorial for this wonderfully whimsical mobile made using them. If you don’t have a little one to make it for, I think the idea could be adapted to make a fun capiz-like shade for a hanging light fixture as well! [how to make a paint chip mobile]
Project estimate:
- Embroidery hoop, on hand or about $2
- Paint chips, on hand or free
- Circle punch, on hand
- Sewing machine, on hand
- String, on hand
Total: Free and up

And if you do this with cardstock on the 10 for $1 days you don’t have to use 2 circles back to back and can just sew through a whole string much faster!
