I’ve seen a lot of wine cork crafts, and a lot of coasters, and even a few wine cork coasters. Even so, these coasters by Mayi at Heartmade really caught my attention. I love how she trimmed the edges to make them circular, which makes them look very finished. I think they would also look great if the corks were laid in a more offset fashion to make it look a little more random, but that’s just my preferred design aesthetic. If you’re not much of a wine drinker, do you have any friends who work at bars or restaurants? Chances are you have at least one friend who can save them for you! [how to make wine cork coasters]
Project estimate:
- Wine corks, on hand
- Cork circles, $1 and up
- Knife, on hand
- Hot glue gun, on hand
- Cutting board, on hand
- Sandpaper, on hand
Total: $1 and up

Reminds me of a cork trivet using corks and a plumbers clamp: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ol-images/sf/uploads/cork_trivet_sm.jpg

What a great idea. I don’t even have to go to the dollar store. Thanks for all the inexpensive craft ideas!
