christmas snack ideas

healthy christmas tree snackIn addition to dollar store crafting, I like to do food crafts! I am a huge fan of fun foods, and I believe that snacks that are fun to look at are more fun to eat! I made this Healthy Christmas Tree Snack a few years ago, and just shared it on our sister site, Dollar Store Mom. This week for my column at the Coffee Talk Community I’ve been collecting my favorite holiday-themed fun food ideas, so I thought I would share my finds with you, too. You can find a lot of the snack foods and candy used in these ideas at the dollar store, too.

peppermint bark trees

Peppermint Bark Trees

A cute twist on a holiday classic – peppermint bark! Make with a dollar store ice cube tray mold. We posted this a couple years ago right here on this site!

gingerbread nativity craft

Gingerbread Nativity Craft

This nativity craft by Katherine Marie Photography (one of my very favorite blogs of all time)  is such an adorable twist on the traditional gingerbread house. Don’t you just love the little marshmallow “sheep”? You can find these candies at any grocery store or the dollar store.

gumdrop pops

Gumdrop Pops

I love these adorable gumdrop pops from Martha Stewart, and I am a huge fan of the way they are displayed. They look like they’re in a snowglobe! You can find the gumdrops, sprinkles, and even a glass jar at the dollar store.

tiny donuts

Tiny Elf Donuts

You already learned awhile back that my youngest son is a huge fan of donuts. He is going to be so excited when we make these teeny tiny donut snacks found at Unconfidential Cook. These are just one of the adorable tiny foods showcased in this post – all from the American Girl book Tiny Treats – note to self: must get this book and try out these teeny sweeties (and another note to self: get this book for editor Rhonda for Christmas!)

donut snowmen

Powdered Donut Snowmen

Speaking of donuts, this powdered donut snowman by Amy from The Idea Room is so cute! Amy is always making the cutest fun treats. Since we rarely get enough snow to build snowmen here in Oregon, I’m sure my boys will appreciate this donut version! Another great snowman fun food craft by Amy is:

oreo snowmen

Melted Oreo Snowman

This treat is so cute! I just love melted snowman crafts, edible or otherwise! Another great craft by Amy from The Idea Room.

snowman sandwichSnowman Sandwich

More fun snowman food! This sandwich by my friend Kellie at Little Nummies is a cute and healthy way to enjoy lunch.

christmas gift sandwich

Christmas Gift Sandwich with Tortilla Tree Chips

Another excellent fun food blog is Kitchen Fun with My Three Sons. I love this healthy, yet fun lunch idea!

snowman hot chocolate

Snowman Hot Chocolate

I love this hot chocolate, and it is oh so easy with food markers (I am totally buying these as soon as I am done writing this post – I can’t find mine, but they are essential for food crafting). It reminds me of my three sons, and the rhyme I say to them: Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub! Great idea by Meet the Dubiens. Speaking of hot chocolate, Breanna just did a comparison of store bought vs. homemade hot cocoa mixes over at Dollar Store Mom.

hot cocoa marshmallow pops

Hot Chocolate Marshmallow Pops

Anything on a stick is just ten times cuter. These pops by Dollhouse Bakeshop are so sweet!

Well, I could go on listing fun food crafts for the rest of the day, but I better stop somewhere! I’ll leave you with this:

Bakesta’s Paradise!

My friend Sunita wrote this adorable song and made a sweet video that I wanted to share – Sooo cute, and you will not be able to get this song out of your head (in a very GOOD way). My 3 year-old son said: “Mom, I love that music.”
