Make a Wax Paper and Crayon Chandelier
by rhonda
Yes, pretty things can come from humble materials! This chandelier by Jamie from The Letter 4 is a similar idea to a faux capiz shell chandelier in its use of wax paper circles, but it has a playful, colorful twist: crayon shavings! It's the perfect addition to a nursery or child's room, and they can even help by sharpening their crayons. This reminds me of "stained glass" art that I used to make with wax paper and crayon shavings when I was a kid, and it was always one of my favorite activities! Project estimate:
- Wax paper, on hand or $1
- Lamps shade frame or wire basket, $1 and up
- Crayon shavings, on hand
- Iron, on hand
- Thread, on hand
Total: $1 and up

Great idea!!! :)
This is SO pretty! I will have to keep it in mind for my daughter’s room – it’s almost time to move from a nursery to a toddler room! Thanks for the idea!
you could also do this with melted crayon paintings – put paper on a griddle or a baking sheet over a low burner, and draw slowly with crayon. It’s oodles of fun, and of course the wax makes the paper translucent at the end. Do take sensible safety precautions, though – plenty of ventilation, no small pets underfoot, don’t leave it unsupervised, etc
