Ah, summertime.  Time for trips to the beach, evening bonfires, and keeping the kids entertained.  When it comes to kids crafts, we’ve got you covered!  Dollar Tree carries many different items that can provide your kids with endless hours of fun on a next-to-nothing budget.  Here are some of our favorite kids craft ideas.

[paper plate frisbees by Crafts by Amanda]

Paper plate crafts are one of the ultimate thrifty activities; costing just a couple of pennies each, you can keep every kid in the neighborhood busy for pocket change!  There are lots of options, running the gamut from paper plate shark jaws to paper plate frisbees.  These projects are both two fun activities in one – first you get the fun of creating them, then you get to play with them!

[cables ties]

[chain link bracelets by Mark Montano]

What young lady doesn’t enjoy a jewelry project?  Our friend Mark Montano has a ton of great craft ideas with dollar store stuff, including these chain link bracelets made out of bright, colorful cable ties.  (And the colors are perfect for recent revival of the neon trend!)

[pipe cleaners]

[googly eyes]

[pipe cleaner finger puppets]

Fun toys don’t have to cost a fortune.  Your kids will get hours and hours of fun out of these pipe cleaner finger puppets, simply constructed from pipe cleaners and googly eyes.  The instructions are for dinosaurs, but a few tweaks to the design will make them into any animal you like!

[craft foam]

[foam marble maze by Instructables member ChrysN]

Not only is a marble maze a fun activity, it also helps your child develop fine motor skills.  Instructables member ChrisN made a custom marble maze out of craft foam, one of our all-time favorite craft supplies.  Younger kids will probably need help with this project, but older kids should be able to design and build their own mazes with ease.
