Dollar Store Crafts has the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Martha Stewart 12 Months of Crafting. This month we were given a cupcake book as well as some very beautiful glitter, yarn, stickers, decorative tags and a punch. When I opened the box I was instantly drawn to the cupcake book and glitter, two of my favorite things. I was on a mission to bring these two things together in an elegant, romantic way. I love the idea of using Dollar Store plates and candle sticks to make serving plates. I was excited to see how the glitter could transform this already popular craft into something eye-popping. It definitely came out gorgeous!
Project estimate:
- Clear glass plate, $1
- Clear glass tumbler or candle stick, $1
- Martha Stewart glitter, on hand or about $15 for 12 assorted colors
- Mod Podge, on hand
- Mod Podge sealer, on hand
- E-6000 Glue, on hand
Total: $2 and up
First make sure all the surface you are applying glitter to is clean and free of tag residue. Them using a foam paint brush apply Mod Podge to back of glass plate and also the inside of the tumbler. Then put a heavy coat of glitter over the painted surface. Allow to dry completely before shaking off loose glitter. If you see areas where you need to apply more lightly Mod Podge the area and place more glitter where needed.
Above I have made two different designs to show how versatile Martha Stewart’s glitters are. They come in so many amazing colors!
Once the glitter is dried completely you will apply two coats of Mod Podge Sealer. This will hold the glitter in place and keep it from rubbing off.
Adhere the base to the plate with glue that is rated to hold glass, such as E-6000. Once dry you can then begin displaying your creative treats made with the new Martha Stewart Cupcake Book.
**Hand wash only**

Cute! I love anything with sparkle and glitter (especially now that I know that Mod Podge keeps it from flaking off all over everything!).
