Make Modern Paper Beads from Security Envelopes

Laupre posted instructions to make these amazing paper beads using the printed insides of security envelopes. I love this modern twist on a traditional craft. The security patterns (found inside any of the envelopes your bills are mailed in) look vaguely Japanese, I think! I love reuses of things that would normally be thrown away, and this project does it with great style!

Project Estimate:

  • Recycled envelopes, free
  • Glue, on hand
  • Paintbrush, on hand

Total cost: FREE!

I very much want to try paper beads. I’ve been hoarding interesting scraps for months now!

Very cool. I made something similar in elementary school with magazines! I think doing this with some fancy origami paper would be really pretty.
