Here’s a fun way to dress up a dollar store picture frame: a faux leather finish. This would be a great masculine treatment for a frame for Father’s Day. Just insert cute picture of the family and give! Project by Erik Homemade [click here for full instructions]

You can find most of the components for this project at the dollar store. Dollar stores often have unfinished wooden frames available, but if you can’t find one at the DS, try using a regular frame with minimal “architectural” detail. You can also find a variety of unfinished wooden items at your local craft store. I have seen liquid shoe polish in the sock-section of my local dollar store, near the men’s dress socks. You will probably not find acrylic clear coat spray at the dollar store, but it’s a great item to have on hand in your craft arsenal. A bottle should cost less than $5.
