Make a Thread Cover for LED Tealight

Here’s a quick and sweet idea from Mrs. Green Tea at Wedding Bee: Make covers for battery-operated tealights out of thread and fabric stiffener. I love how these look, and they are super simple! These are great for weddings, parties, or even to dress up your home, and the great thing is — they are safe! No fire hazard here! [click here for information on how to make these] [via]

Mix up the look of these by choosing different thread (or other similar material). I really like the organic look of this off-white thread, though!

Project Estimate:

  • Battery operated tealights, 2 for $1
  • Thread, $1
  • Fabric stiffener, on hand
  • Cardboard roll, on hand
  • Plastic wrap, on hand

Total: about $.50 each

Awesome idea. Note to LED tealight lovers – I found replacement batteries for mine at Big Lots, four for $1.70.

Using a sugar/water starch could work if fabric stiffener is not available. It worked well for all the crochet snowflakes I used to make. I like this project. I can foresee using up a lot of crochet thread and cotton yarn.
