Pot holders are the new placemats this month at Dollar Store Crafts! After Care did her fabulous week of pot holder crafts, I have come to the conclusion the the humble pot holder is the untapped material of dollar store crafting. Heather at My Frugal Family sent me a link to her amazing and adorable kids’ apron made of a pot holder and a dish towel, and it could not be cuter. Make a few of these for all your helpers to wear while you do your holiday cooking and baking! [click here for the pot holder apron tutorial]

Check back tomorrow for another great apron idea (for adults!).

Project Estimate:

  • Pot holders, 2 for $1
  • Dishtowel, $1
  • Ribbon, on hand or $1

Total: about $2

Thanks for this great and simply craft, my daughter and I are hosting a Book Club group (she’s 8 1/2), our book is called “Ms. Hannah is Bananas”, by Dan Gutman, and Ms. Hannah is the art teacher and recycles everything into art, including her “pot holder dreess”. I think this project will be great for them, especially useful for right before all the holiday baking. I’ll let you know how it goes.
