Mardi Gras is coming up soon! It's February 16th this year, so you better start planning your decor and Fat Tuesday activities! Reader Abby made this fun Mardi Gras wreath and posted it at our Facebook page. Wreaths are a dollar store decor staple, and you can whip this one up for less than five bucks and in less than fifteen minutes! And let me know what you are doing this year to celebrate Mardi Gras - I'd love to hear about your festivities, decor, parties, and food! [click here for Abby's Mardi Gras wreath]

Project Estimate:

  • Wreath form, $1 or on hand
  • Mardi gras beads, $1 (6 necklaces for $2 at Amazon)
  • Mardi gras masks, $1
  • Metallic garland, $1

Total: $3 and up

p.s. Here are some Printable Mardi Gras Masks at Fantasy Jr.

Yay! So glad someone is posting about Mardi Gras! We tend to get forgotten since it’s not celebrated all over.

    Cute wreath!

Oh I did want to say that the project estimate might be a little off…the purple/gold/green garlands are usually slightly pricey in the $6 to $10 range…but they’re pretty long so you could probably use part of it for this and part to hang in your doorway.

@Amy thanks for the note & the price estimate correction. I was assuming/hoping you could find a mardi gras garland at the dollar store for $1… but if not, you could sub your leftover xmas garlands or use ribbon, etc. Of course, the price estimates are always ballpark anyway!
