Iron Craft knows you may think that Valentine’s Day is just a Hallmark holiday, but we take Valentine’s Day as a reminder to tell the people in our lives that we love how important they are and that we don’t take them for granted. So, the fifth Iron Craft challenge of 2011 was to “Be Mine” (make a Valentine for someone special in your life). [See all the submissions from Iron Craft]

Our IC5 Submissions:

Rhonda Greene’s Submission: Heart Embellished Paper Lantern

Heart Embellished Paper LanternRhonda wanted to make something for her hubby for this week’s challenge, but he’s not a very sentimental guy and she knew a card wasn’t quite the right gift. He does, however, really enjoy when Rhonda decorates the house for the holidays. I bet you can’t guess what she used to make the heart embellishments on this dollar store paper lantern!

Read about her inspiration and see the complete tutorial on her blog.

(Rhonda is also currently having a giveaway on her blog for a pair of dollhouse miniature tutorial books, so be sure to stop by and enter!)

Melinda Hileman’s Submission: Plastic Canvas QR Code

Plastic Canvas QR codeThis week flew by fast, so she decided to make a 1-day craft that showed her inner geek – a plastic canvas QR code!

Melinda went to the QR-Code Generator and created an “I love you” code. Then she graphed it out and stitched it in plastic canvas.

See both sides of this craft here.
