I love lamp.

But seriously, I do love lamps; I'm not just making a silly movie reference.  I love them even more when they're made out of unexpected materials, like this one by Scott from What I Made.  I love that it has such a finished look but is   made almost entirely out of things rescued from the recycling bin.  I love the organic shape of the melty plastic shade.   I love Scott's tutorial for the lamp too; he's not only super-crafty, he's also a very talented illustrator!  Yes indeedy...  I certainly do love lamp.  [how to make a recycled plastic lamp]

Project estimate:

  • Plastic bowls, $1 and up
  • Empty 2 liter bottle, on hand
  • Tin, on hand or $1
  • Recycled tin can, on hand
  • Wire, on hand or $1 and up
  • Metal tube or pipe, about $2
  • Lamp kit, about $5
  • Drill, on hand
  • Hot glue gun, on hand
  • CFL lightbulb, $1 and up

Total:  $9 and up

Brick, are you just looking at things in the office and saying that you love them?

Hehe. Now I’m going to be quoting Anchorman all day.

I like it. I really do. There is so much you can do with a shade of that size and just about any material you want to use. (As long as it’s not flammable)They’re all just too darn cute. I made one several months ago and if I can find out where my grand daughter put my phone, I’ll take a pic and post it. It’s just a plain shade I dry ‘swipe’ painted and then hot-glued some beads around the bottom but it really did turn out cute. Now, where’s that phone??????
