Hot Glue Gun Helpers Review

I love my hot glue gun. BUT. I hate getting burned, and the thought of getting burned while working on stuff sometimes keeps me from getting my hot glue gun out. Some other crafters thought so too, which is why they invented Hot Glue Gun Helpers!
My friend Cathie Filian and her crafty-partner-in-crime Steve Piacenza are well-known crafters and crafty tv hosts (of HGTV's Creative Juice, and check out their current proeject: Plaid TV), and they were sick of getting burned while hot glue gunning, so they came up with a set of heat-resistant tools that will make your hot glue gun projects much more pleasant!
The kit contains:
- Craft Mat: Cover and protect your work surface. Peel craft paint and cooled glue from the mat. Soap and water clean up. Rolls for storage. (measures 14.75" x 11.5")
- Finger Caps (you get 3: 2 adult sizes and 1 teen size): Place on fingers to protect while gluing. Great with hot glue.
- Tweezers: Pick up and place small items into glue. Non-stick tips. Great for working with gem glue.
- Paddle: Corners pick up a small amount of glue. Paddle allows for a soft press. Great for gluing flowers.
- Press Wand: Tipped end smears hot glue. Great for paper crafts. Blunt end allows for a firm press. Great for gluing embellishments.
I really love this product! If I were the crafty Oprah, I would give one of these away to everyone I know (and everyone I don't know). All the tools are heat-resistant and designed to help you use hot glue in ways you have never been able to.
When wearing the finger caps, you can literally put your finger in hot glue and you won't get burned or feel any heat from the hot glue. You can use all the tools to do different things like pick up a small dab of glue for fine work, or apply pressure against something that needs to be pressed down. You can put a glob of hot glue down on the mat and it won't damage your work surface at all. When the glue cools, it peels right off of the mat.
The only thing I would change is to make the finger caps bigger (or make them available in "man" size, since my fingers didn't like being squeezed into them). They are probably fine for most people, though! I guess I just have large fingers!

I love my hot glue gun for instant satisfaction on projects. But the permanent brown spot on finger is not cute. This is a nifty invention for crafters.

I’ve been using an old plastic cutting board at a glue station, but you cant peel old glue off.
The silicone finger caps would be great. then I wouldnt have to set up a “just in case” bowl of ice water when I’m working

The last time I used the glue gun I burned my finger and it hurt for days. This would be wonderful!
I find that using my glue gun on the cool setting helps avoid most of the burns. Nevertheless, I’d be very interested in winning a set, I’m sure it’d come in handy!

I burned my fingers so bad they blistered on my last hot glue gun project. I tried protecting my fingers from burns with band aids but it didn’t work well at all. The band aids made my fingers too slippery.
What an amazing and much needed product this is! Each one of those tools would be a wonderful, wonderful aid in my ongoing dollhouse project (and all of my other crafting adventures, as well)!! Thank you for making me aware that such useful tools existed.

I would love this! I currently use a low temp glue gun so I won’t burn myself, but it also limits what I can do because it cools and dries so quickly. This kids would be perfect so I can graduate to a REAL glue gun. :) Thanks for the giveaway!

I would SO love to have this!! I use my glue gun all the time! I have used my gun to make hairbows,halloween costumes, scarecrow, wreaths, school projects, party favors, pictures for my kids rooms, shelves, hairbow holders and SO much more. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have burned my fingers, I have lost count. I haven’t heard of the product until you mentioned it and know I am about to die to have one!! :)

Wow this looks like an awesome product. This would have been great a couple of years ago when I was doing pot pals with my girl scouts and my girl scout leader, we kept burning our fingers and joking around that we didn’t have any more fingerprints. I wish this was around then.

What a terrific idea and in my favorite color. I hate getting burned by hot glue too. I sometimes wear a black glove that I got from the curl wand that goes up to 400 degrees. It helps

As I am currently recovering from second degree burns/blisters on my finger as a result of my hot glue gun, I could most definitely use these!!!!!

Sounds like the perfect product and should be sold with glue guns. I just finished a massive project involving about 30 sticks of glue. I actually burned a hole in my index finger. I am always getting burned. My husband has nick named me the queen of burn. I get burned by the curling iron. with the iron, using the stove and of course the glue gun. I would be wonderful to own one of my very own. I sure would cut down on our band aides, and I wouldn’t have as many scares.

I would LOVE this. I just spent $12 on a nice glue gun with a very fine precision tip and it seems to be working pretty well for now but I still seem to get burned with the excess glue sometimes. Great idea and would love to put it to use.

I think I use my glue gun even more than a person necessarily should. When I was younger and couldn’t sew, I even used to hot glue together clothes for myself and my barbies!

I just started using a hot glue gun and these are the reasons I do not use it unless necessary. I hate the mess and the burns, but this will definitely change that.
