Are you plotting about how to spookify your house for Halloween yet?  I have a kind of creepy aesthetic when it comes to Halloween decorating, so I was almost a little giddy when I saw these witchy spell books by Corie at Design DNA.  The spines are labelled as spells, curses, and potions.  She used some decorative wooden books that she found at a thrift store, but you can also use a real hardcover book.  Most thrift stores have a large selection of books for under $1.  You know you're dying to make some for your next mantel display!  [how to make a witch's spell book]

Project estimate:

  • Book, on hand or about 50 cents and up
  • Paint, on hand
  • Embossed stickers, $1 and up
  • Googly eyes, on hand or $1

Total:  $1 and up

I love these! What a clever spooky project! And, if I didn’t want to paint my books, I could always put black book covers on first! : )

If you don’t want to part with any of your old books, spend a few cents at your local opportunity shop… trash > treasure… what’s not to love? Nice project – thanks.
