Make a Fabric-Wrapped Ball Necklace

Today's tutorial comes to us from Selina, aka Sister #1 of The Sisters 4 Say More is More.  I love that this same process can yield so many different looks by simply changing the fabric or the size of the foam balls.  Selina's version is bold, chunky, and bright, making a big statement even though it cost peanuts to put together.  If the size of even the smallest foam balls is still too much for your taste, try using other items instead, such as large beads.  ~Rhonda

Project estimate:

  • Fabric, on hand or $1
  • Foam balls, $1 and up

Total: $1 and up

This tutorial is so easy and requires little to no sewing.  First you go pick up foam craft balls from the Dollar Store, or the craft store.

Then cut a long scrap of fabric, preferably from selvage edge to selvage edge, that is wide enough to wrap your craft balls in.

Wrap a ball then tie a knot...

...and repeat until you are done, leaving enough fabric to tie around your neck.  (For a longer necklace stitch two long strips together.)  I wanted mine to be chunky like Wilma from the Flinstones!
