Need to moisturize your lips but also want a touch of color? Turn regular lip balm into tinted lip balm! Check out how easy it is to DIY it in any shade you want using stuff from the dollar store. Your lips will feel great and look great, all for just a couple bucks. Watch the how-to video below, or keep scrolling for written directions.
Project estimate:
- Lip balm, $1
- Lipstick, $1
Total: $2
Roll the lip balm all the way out of the tube and use a knife to cut it off into a microwavable container. Roll out a little bit of lipstick and cut off a chunk to add to the lip balm. The more lipstick you use, the more opaque the color of your finished lip balm will be.
Microwave the lip balm and lipstick mixture for 30 seconds; stir and repeat until they are completely melted together. Roll the empty lip balm containers back down and pour the mixture into them. Let stand until the lip balm comes back to room temperature and hardens.

Neat idea ! Wonder if this would work with the crayola crayon trick instead of lipstick use a bit of crayola crayon for your own custom color and still get the moisture lock of a lip balm.

@myt cr8tiv, Personally, I would not use crayon in a lip balm – it’s nontoxic, but not the greatest for actually applying to your lips. Your mileage may vary!
