With some recycled materials and fabric scraps (and a dollar store plate), you can make a charming and rustic Christmas tree this year! Over at A Little Tipsy, Michelle created a craft after my cheapskate little heart. I love the creativity of mounting the tree on an overturned plate, and using things from the recycling bin to make a fun little decoration. [how to make a burlap christmas tree]
Project Estimate:
- Burlap (or fabric) scraps, on hand
- Jute string, $1
- Small plate, $1
- Fabric stiffener, about $3

Another great idea. I’ll be making a few substitutions though. First, I’d make my own fabric stiffener (white glue and water). I don’t have a sturdy cardboard tube, but I have an extra broomstick on hand that I can cut down to size (planning to do more than one tree) and secure to the plate with epoxy glue (on hand) Finally, I’ll decorate the plate with glass paints (leftover from another project)

Thanks for the shout out for my tree! I Should make a couple more so it does not look so lonely. Or I guess I could actually get the rest of my Chrsitmas decor out now that it is December. ;)
