This week, I met up with Breanna for a dollar store crafting date. Breanna is a fan of Dollar Store Crafts, and we met through the DSC Facebook page. I had a great time checking out the Dollar Tree with her. She shared a couple of her favorite dollar store crafting ideas with me, including this DIY apothecary project. It's so simple and cheap, that I made a super short video for her "15 second tutorial." Check it out! And if you're an active YouTuber, please subscribe to the DollarCraft Channel!

Project Estimate:

  • Lidded glass jar, $1
  • Candle stick, $1 (or you can find shorter ones 2/$1)
  • E6000 glue, on hand

Total: $1.50 and up

Apothecary Jar

Apothecary Jar for $2

To make:

Use E6000 glue (or equivalent) to glue glass candlestick to the bottom of glass jar. Allow to dry, according to directions. Fill it up with pretty stuff, and enjoy!

Thanks for the great idea, Breanna!

this is the exact reason why I went to the Dollar Tree yesterday! Instead of getting the jars with lids (which I will get next time)…I got open mouth vases. They are currently drying right now!!!
    So cute!

Oooh, I’ll be looking for those lidded glass jars! I’ve made a few pedestal things without a lid, but I really wanted to make one *with* a lid. Thanks for the tip!!

I can see a nice tiered effect going on too, if you combined pedestal-ed jars with some un-modded jars. A cute way of getting more variety into your storage. I prefer a bit of mismatching.

That is a VERY good idea! Apothecary jars are so in right now but SO SO expensive! Those look so real, a great gift too! Good job!

These would be great (as long as the base is stable) for a Betta fish for your counter or work desk. Adds some interest rather than a standard vase.

I did this for Christmas a couple of years ago, and yes the E6000 glue will certainly keep it together and strong. I have many at different heights and at Christmas time filled with beads, one with silver, one with gold. I also eglued a charger plate to a small candle stick ( all from $tree) to use for treats. I have also used dollar tree’s martini glass as a base. I am huge fan of dollar store crafts, dollar tree, and E6000 glue. It is the best glue in the world, I cannot do without it.
