Have extra jars on hand? I absolutely love these Jack-o’-Lanterns made from baby food containers by My Insanity – adorable! What’s even better is that they are super-simple, and you probably have almost everything you need on hand–that’s an award winning recipe for dollar store craftin’, in my book! They’d be a great activity for kiddos (with a little help, depending on their ages), and you can use any size of jar or old vase to make them. You have to check the My Insanity blog for a super cute black bat jar, too! [click here for project details]
Oh, and while doing some recon recently, I found that W*l-mart has spray paint in basic colors for $.97, so I can legitimately claim that you can spend a buck for spray paint… not sure if they have orange, though! You can also substitute acrylic paint for this project, it will just have a more mottled, brushed-on look. You can get battery-operated tealights at the dollar store 2 for $1.
Project Estimate:
- Recycled glass jars (or vases), on hand
- Spray paint, $1
- Mailing labels, hole reinforcement stickers, on hand or $1
- Tea lights or battery-operated tealights, on hand or $1
Total: FREE and up
Bonus Project: Wendy at Craft Jr. posted this adorable tutorial for a Halloween Mod Podge project, kind of in the same family as the Jack-o’-Lantern Jars, so I thought I’d give you the link. So cute!! I love those tall glasses, too… pretty! [linkie]
