When I first saw this adorable idea from Kathleen at Fireflies and Family, my cute-o-meter went off the charts. It’s so simple that it’s brilliant! She used a small flower pot and an array of crafty odds and ends that you likely have laying around to create a whimsical reindeer Christmas ornament. And the best part? Tucked inside is a jingle bell, making this an interactive ornament! They would make great gifts for moms or teachers, and are easy enough for kids to make with minimal assistance. [how to make a flower pot reindeer bell ornament]
Project estimate:
- Small flower pot, $1
- Jingle bells, $1
- Brown pipe cleaner, on hand or $1
- Red pom pom, on hand or $1
- Googly eyes, on hand or $1
- Brown paint, on hand or $1 and up
- Ribbon, on hand or $1
- Glue, on hand
Total: $2 and up
You could also tweak this idea for other characters as well. For example, you could paint the flower pot white, add a head on top, and glue wings to the back to make an angel bell! What other characters could you make with this design?

I forgot about these! I was gifted one that looked like a bumblebee by my four year old cousin. I would have never thought to do a reindeer, though.

Those are so cute! I wonder if my Daisies could do this? The antlers look like they might need a bit of extra help. The bumble bee idea is also cute!

Love this idea. You could also go with the idea of painting the pot white, add a head and dress up as a snowman.

I have made 58 of these for the kids on my School Bus.

I found some pots cheaper than $1 at the craft store.
