The dollar store is a great resource for inexpensive winter gear.  Often, however, despite the fun color assortment they are very basic and leave something to be desired.  Today I will show you how I took a simple, plain fleece dollar store scarf and embellished it with a fun snowflake motif!  [go to tutorial]

If you are nervous about appliqueing such a detailed motif, you could certainly choose a simpler shape.  How about a pine tree?  Or, wouldn’t a letter monogram be a fun way of personalizing your scarf?  Once you know the EASY technique, the possibilities are literally endless!

Project Estimate:

  • fleece scarf, $1
  • white fleece scrap, on hand
  • tissue paper, on hand
  • printed snowflake image (I found mine online)
  • pins

Total:  $1.00 !
