The seventh Iron Craft challenge and contest of 2011 was “Midas Touch.” The ideas they gave us were using gold leaf, cooking with gold, making jewelry, embellishing clothing or take it in a whole different direction and surprise us all. The only guideline that was set in place is that you keep “gold” in mind, instead of “yellow”. If you have to deviate, then go “silver”. [See all the submissions from Iron Craft]

Our IC7 Submissions:

Rhonda Greene’s Submission: Sticker Embellished Locket

Rhonda's Gold LocketThis week was insane for Rhonda, so she didn’t have much craft time. Rhonda did find a plain gold locket on clearance for 99 cents the day after Valentine’s Day, which she gave a makeover with a gold foil sticker. Next time she uses polymer resin for a project, she’s going to permanently seal the sticker in by brushing a layer of resin over top of the sticker.

Melinda Hileman’s Submission: Valentine’s Day Candy Pop Gift

Melinda's Golden Candy PopsMelinda created some white chocolate (but yellow in color) heart pops, and used gold shimmer dust to make them pop. She put them in a short glass filled with Hershey’s Hugs and Kisses then wrapped the bottom of the glass in glittery gold and cream ribbon. To finish it off, she added a little card on a paperclip that was straightened out, then bent back and forth.

Melinda placed this in a red bag along with the Plastic Canvas QR code she made for the Valentine challenge.
