Whether you do this project with a brand new box of crayons or you use up the broken bits from the bottom of your art supply collection, a broken crayon monogram makes a cute piece of wall art. Using a simple tutorial by Lisa at Rainy Tuesday Mornings, you can make a fabulous framed initial that makes a great teacher gift or a decoration for a child’s bedroom. You can use a full spectrum of colors for a playful look, or get a more refined effect by selecting crayons in specific shades. [how to make broken crayon monograms]
Project estimate:
- Picture frame, $1 and up
- Paper, on hand
- Crayons, on hand or $1
- Glue, on hand
Total: $1 and up
NOTE: We are not able to provide custom templates. You should be able to create them in your word processing program.

We love this project and did this for a friends baby shower. It was so simple, yet it stole the show as one of the cutest gifts. We picked up the shadow box frame from a local craft store and used different shades of red and pink crayons for the letter, to match the bedding for the baby’s room.

Made this for my kids teachers and it turned out really nice. His teachers loved it and hung it on the classroom door. Thank you!!
