Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson. It activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
Enjoy this year’s Earth Day with our crafts, activities and games appropriate for the whole family!

Wait! Don’t Throw It Out!
If you no longer love your stuff, set it FREE!
Freecycle™ lets people “recycle” things no longer used, but too good to throw out. The goal is to find a good home for things otherwise headed for the landfill.
Get rid of stuff you don’t need like: Appliances, Bicycles, Books, Clothes, Construction Materials, Craft and Hobby Supplies, Furniture, Gardening Tools, Plants, Sports Equipment, Toys, And More!
The site is free and open to everyone. Find your local group at http://www.freecycle.org

I like the concept of “toys from trash.” I believe that if more kids crafted their own playthings, they would appreciate them more…

Thanks so much for the shout outs Heather!

I really like that you are finding uses for coffee bags and toilet paper tubes.I end up keeping all kinds of stuff in hopes to make good use instead of throwing it out,but i dont want to make another useless item like flower necklace. Im a guy and it would send the wrong message. We need to make less stuff, reuse stuff that may of had another purpose, and maybe use up unwanted or broken stuff wholesale, like in big projects. What do you do with pile of coffee bags dropped off by the community? Or all the broken Christmas presents just weeks after new years,To make a difference we need to get ahead of it.We need your help with bigger ideas.I love the bag though.
