Kat at Iron Craft doesn’t know about you guys, but she never seems to have enough bags and cases for all her stuff. You know: a case for her Kindle, a bag to carry small knitting projects, a cool new purse.  In that vein, this week they had us create something to hold something else. Melinda Hileman’s Submission: Pants Leg Into A Purse

Pants BagA few months ago, Melinda’s mother-in-law, Rhonda, cut off parts of some pant legs to make her husband some shorts. Rhonda spent about two minutes sewing the bottom together, turning over the top and adding a strip of the pants for a strap and jokingly told Melinda she had a new purse.

This week Melinda gussied it up a little to make something she’d really use, which Rhonda thought was pretty clever. Melinda added the pocket, replaced the strap with ribbon and added the finishing touches.

The pocket was originally for her phone, but once sewed on, it was too small, so she will use it for her keys. Melinda will have her mother-in-law add a pocket to the other side that is big enough for her phone.
