There are a lot of ways you can decorate a cone shape to turn it into a Christmas tree. And many of those ideas can be achieved using items that all came from the dollar store! To show how versatile the cone-turned-tree project can be, Jocie from The Better Half made a whole set of them. She made the whole collection with a just a few dollars worth of materials, coming in at an average of under two bucks per tree, or less if you have some of the materials already on hand! [how to make decorative trees four different ways]
Project estimate:
- Foam or cardboard cones, $.50 each and up ($2)
- Plastic spoons, $1 and up
- Spray paint, on hand or $1 and up
- Ornaments, $1 and up
- Garland, $1 and up
- Peppermint candies, $1 and up
- Hot glue, on hand
Total: $6 and up for all four trees!

You could enhance the one made from spoons by gluing something decorative in each bowl… like a bead or tiny ornament or small candy…
