When I was in graduate school near Boston, many of my school mates referred to me as “Punk Rock Carissa from Seattle”. This, of course, was highly amusing to all of my friends from Seattle as back home I am so normal I am boring. This fun pumpkin has a hint of punk with black and studs but has a girly princess side as well.
Project estimate:
- Foam pumpkin, $1 and up
- Black craft paint, on hand
- Jeweled thumb tacks, 3 packages, $3 and up
- Mod Podge, on hand
- Foam brush, on hand
- Small paintbrush, on hand
- Silver glitter, on hand or $1 and up
Total: $4 and up
Step 1: Paint the pumpkin black
Step 2: Glitter Stem
Once the pumpkin is dry, use a small paint brush to paint Mod Podge onto the stem. I used glitter formula but almost any formula will work.
Generously cover stem in silver glitter. Shake off over a piece of paper. Use a soft, dry paintbrush if needed to remove any glitter stuck to the pumpkin in places where you did not apply Mod Podge.
Set aside to dry. Once the Mod Podge is set (about 1-2 hours), come pack and paint another layer of Mod Podge over the glittered stem to set the glitter in place.
Step 3: Add Jewels
While the Mod Podge is setting, insert the jeweled tacks into the pumpkin. I put mine in lines inside the grooves of the pumpkin.
Set aside an allow the Mod Podge to fully dry before setting out for decor.
