Remember the days of the AOL installation disc? I swear I used to get at least one a week in my pile of junk mail, alongside those pesky pre-approved credit card applications. At one point I was saving them for a craft that I never got around to – making a disco ball! Over at Skip to My Lou, Kimbo shares how she made this retro-fabulous project out of mostly recycled materials. Even the base onto which the tiles of CD are glued came out of the recycling bin! Even if you don’t have old CDs laying around, you can pick up a package of cheap blank discs and still spend far less than you would buying actual mirror tiles. [how to make a disco ball from recycled CDs]
Project estimate:
- Punching balloon, $1
- Newspaper, on hand
- Paper mache paste or glue, on hand or $1
- Old CDs, on hand
- Hot glue, on hand
Total: $1 and up

I actually saw an AOL cd case at the goodwill outlets last week. I almost bought it just for nostalgia sake!
