Fabric paint is actually not required. I have stamped t-shirts this same way with rubber stamps and regular craft paint. You DO HAVE TO seal in the paint with heat though. I put cardboard in between the layers of the shirt (or under the towel in this case) and then paint a thin layer of my paint on a paper plate and stamp in it and onto the cloth. when the whole thing is done let it dry for several hours and then throw it into the dryer on high for 20-30 minutes to heat set – DO NOT WASH IT BEFORE DRYING! lol. Since most crafty people have craft paint on hand, this project is much cheaper when you don’t have to buy fabric paint… They even have little metal tips that screw onto the craft paint bottles for tiny details or writing words – an awesome buy. You can find those right by the paint section too… K. I’ll stop talking now…
